Aoi Seicha is a long-established matcha producer based in Nishio, Aichi Prefecture. Founded in 1910, the company draws its name from the hollyhock crest (Tachi Aoi), a symbol later adopted by the Tokugawa shogunate. This connection to regional and cultural history runs deep. Rooted in values of sincerity, trust, and care, Aoi has maintained a quiet but firm presence as a trusted source of Nishio matcha across generations.

Shaded fields cultivation, hand-picked leaves, steamed, stone-milled tencha. These leaves are stone-milled in-house using traditional granite mills to preserve flavor and texture. Aoi Seichaen offers a full spectrum of matcha: from high-grade ceremonial powders to organic and culinary use. While the company operates at scale, its core remains unchanged—bringing forward Nishio’s depth and clarity through clean, precise matcha, shaped by heritage and refined by discipline.

Nishio | A Land of Tencha

Nishio, Aichi Prefecture, is one of Japan’s key tencha-growing regions, one of Japan’s few regions with an unbroken, eight-century tradition of shade-grown tea. Nishio is producing 20% of the country’s supply and more than 90% of its tea fields are dedicated to tencha, grown in volcanic soil and nourished by the Yahagigawa River. Generations of farmers have perfected shading, steaming, drying, and grinding, yielding tencha with richness, balance, and a smooth finish. Nishio remains central to matcha production in Japan and beyond.
