Jingdezhen Wood-Fired Ruoshen Zhencang Cup 1980s
80年代 景德镇 柴燒 若深珍藏茶杯
Produced in the 1980s, this Jingdezhen Wood-Fired Ruoshen Zhencang Cup was also found in a warehouse after being overlooked for a long time. Now, with renewed interest in tea, these cups have been brought back to the market.
Though produced in molds, these are small-batch and exquisitely made, as can be seen from the rim's craftsmanship. Despite the edge being a bit blunt, it is thin and delicate—a difficult feat with mold production.
Made in Jingdezhen in a classic shape, they are stamped 'Ruoshen Zhencang' on the bottom, a reference to antique gongfu cups. These cups are unique for their era, being wood-fired to a cool-white hue.
Note that subtle variations in the exact bluish-white tone may occur from cup to cup due to the wood-fired process and the imprecise control over the kiln's reducing conditions.
This is our choice for a standard assessment vessel for cups, with a versatile size, shape, and heft suitable for a wide range of teas.
Volume: ~40 ml maximum, ~20-30 ml typical use.
