Origin: Kyoto Prefecture, Japan
The Meaning of Ogurayama (小倉山): "Mount Ogura" is a mountain in Saga, Kyoto, overlooking Arashiyama across the Hozu River. It is believed that Fujiwara no Sadaie (also known as Fujiwara no Teika) compiled the "Hyakunin Isshu" (One Hundred Poets, One Poem Each) anthology at his lodge on this mountain, giving the collection its alternate name, "Ogura Hyakunin Isshu."
